Found this video, aimed at US cricketers, but some quite good ideas. I think I will stick with my coach for now though, theres no substitute for good net practice and someone watching hwh oknows what they are doing.

- The Bat Grip
The use of the left arm (in the case of right hand batsmen) for power and leverage and the use of the right arm more for direction, most of the time…In my experience, a stronger grip with the top hand sends the ball further and harder. Mark Waugh’s seemingly effortless flicks are a case in point.
He doesn’t talk about getting in line with the ball, getting to the pitch of the ball, weight transfer…Keeping it simple, I guess.
