Once upon a time in a town north of Chicago lived a family of eight. One day the youngest boy ran into the house holding a cricket ball he had gotten from a special presentation at school and announced to the whole wide world that he was going to play cricket. The whole wide world that was there at the time of his announcement was his mom, and then his good friend Andi, who he called up on Skype.

“You’re going to play cricket in the States, Mate?”

“Yes, I am going to play cricket.”

Unbeknownst to Nicholas, Andi got an idea while they were talking. Two weeks later, Nicholas received a gift from him: a cricket bag full of cricket equipment. That summer, Andi flew over to the States and taught the whole family how to play…and the whole family had a lot of fun together.

That was over 10 years ago. During that time we have played a lot of cricket, learned a lot about cricket equipment, surfaces to play cricket on, places to play cricket, have played cricket in different countries, etc. If there is something to know about cricket, chances are we know a lot about it.

We kept wondering how to let people know that this game isn’t complicated: you just need a bat and a ball and a bit of space to start. One day a friend suggested we make a simple website with easy to follow instructions and offer fun equipment. It would take the mystery out of cricket, make it accessible to everyone, and allow others to experience the joy of learning something new…together.

Welcome to How To Play Cricket.
